Inner Circle: Carly Ferrarese, founder of Under Luna

Carly is Under Luna’s founder and CEO — a certified herbalist, mother of two, and the creator and formulator behind all our products.

In this feature, we’re catching a glimpse of her outside the office, as she steps away from UL and into the wild — camping + hiking with her family among the wildlife of Montana and Wyoming.

How would you describe your current phase of life?

— I’m nearing 40 and although it’s just a number, I feel like there’s a reckoning we all go through at this stage of life. My 30s were a beautiful kind of chaos: building Under Luna, welcoming two daughters, and moving out of state. Now, with an amazing team in place, I’m being more intentional with my time, noticing how fleeting it is, and carving out more of it for my family. I’m learning to savor the journey rather than just chase the destination.

I feel most myself when...

I’m in nature — at the base of the mountains, surrounded by open sky, listening to the water, the silence, and the quiet conversations of wildlife. I’m reminded why we’re here, what inspires me to do what I love, and what moves me most: nature. This is where I gather the energy to return to our daily routines.

What’s your recipe for ’taking care’?

— Quiet moments of solitude are essential for me. Most often, that means rising early—before the rest of my family—to meditate or go for a run. Finding balance has never come naturally; I’m quick to care for others or dive into the next task. So I’ve learned to be intentional about carving out time for myself, especially when the days get hectic and my senses feel overloaded.
