INNER CIRCLE: Joelle Frederick

Model + mother, Joelle Frederick, is a powerful source of inspiration when it comes to asking ourselves how to live a beautiful and intentional life. How would you describe your current phase of life?

In major arcana, I am in my Empress era. The Empress is the third card in the Major Arcana of a tarot deck and represents motherhood, femininity, and the nurturing mother archetype. Becoming a mother in the latter part of 2024 truly sparked some kind of deep, intentional healing within me and I am forever changed. I have to now live my life as the prime example of the type of human I want my son to be - his father and I are his first examples of what being a good human entails and that comes with emotional, spiritual, physical, psychological reconfiguration and, key word, intention. 

I feel most myself when I am surrounded by the loud silence of nature. Wrapped in Mother Earth’s warm embrace listening to her sweet nothings while simply being present.

What's your recipe for 'taking care'?

‘Taking care’ - slowing all the way down and being as present as I can possibly be. Before my son wakes up for the day or after he goes to bed at night, making space to tap out of ‘motherhood’ and shift my attention back to nurturing myself, as if nurturing my inner child directly. This now includes lathering up with Under Luna body wash, taking in all the smells and feels of a warm shower, deep breathing and releasing all that does not serve me right in that very moment. Intention is everything when it comes to ‘taking care’. 

Your favorite Under Luna ritual.

My favorite Under Luna ritual at the moment is the Tulsi Shampoo and Conditioner combo. One can only describe using these products as the feeling of biting into a fresh summer salad. They leave my hair feeling so clean but also very soft, loved and cared for.
