Inner Circle: Kelsey Hayden

Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting a yin yoga + scalp massage workshop at Portland wellness space, woo-woo. This month, we’re highlighting Kelsey, the longtime yoga + meditation teacher behind it all. She kindly sat down with us to chat about her current phase of life, show us her incredible backyard fig tree, and connect on the little joys that light her up - a glass of wine and a solo movie? How would you describe your current phase of life?

— a reckoning with adulthood. i spent all of my 20’s following every whim of my heart: traveling, moving, quitting, restarting, learning once, learning over again. the past few years i’ve grown deeper roots in every part of my life — with people and places and work — but i’m still grieving the wildness of my youth and trying to find the elusive balance of freedom and security.

I feel most myself when...

I go to the movies alone. bonus points if i have time for the bookstore + a solo glass of wine before.

What’s your recipe for ’taking care?’

— i’m still learning and it changes all the time. mostly slowness. making time to do the things that i know make me feel good: moving my body, being outside, writing, reading, cuddling my cat. i’m an introvert and a taurus — i need a lot of time to recharge!

Describe your favorite Under Luna ritual.

— obsessed with the deep magic hair + scalp serum - i love massaging it into my hair and tying it up before i sleep. it doesn’t take long and just feels special + luxurious. plus, it smells amazing.
