Meet Lauren Johnson, a multi-hyphenate creative, best known for her stunning ceramics and large modeling portfolio, but even more, for just being an exceptionally kind human. We are deeply grateful for Lauren offering us a moment of pause to reflect on our own rituals and how they help to locate ourselves amongst the noise.

How would you describe your current phase of life?

Exploratory Resilience.  It’s an ever-evolving phase that I’m sure will lovingly come in and out of flow over the course of my life.  I am reimagining my past/current ways of being and doing with prompts such as asking: "How will I move forward into a new phase of myself, and what lessons or tools am I willing to bring with me?".

I feel most myself when... I’m rollerblading, and making my morning matcha.

What is your recipe for 'taking care'?

Tuning out, slowing down, and tuning in.

Tuning out the noise and potential chaos ( good and bad ).

Slowing down my movements and being much more intentional about my choices of what I think, ingest, and do throughout the day.

Tuning in to what slowing down has awakened in my body and mind.  Sometimes this is a more intense time in my ceramic studio, buckling down on some admin work, a good workout, or softer and slower moments journaling, zoning out looking at the wall, wandering around the neighborhood smelling my neighbors rose bushes :).

It always includes hanging with my two cats, spending extra time infusing love into making the perfect matcha or herbal tea, doing a facial while I wash my hair, and cleaning the house.

Your favorite Under Luna ritual.

Once a week I shampoo my hair with Warrior Shampoo, condition with Serenity Conditioner, and then place a shower cap on while I wash my body. ( Or sometimes I’ll leave it in while I do a workout ).  When getting out of the shower, I slather All Things Oil on damp skin, and pat dry.

Every evening before bed, I toss my feet to the ceiling and proceed to rub the All Things Oil on my calves and feet.  Then I stretch, and let my legs stay towards the sky for nervous system relaxation.
