We're pH Balanced. Why is that important?!

 

Let’s talk about pH—it’s quite fascinating!

What is pH?
pH measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is, ranging from 0-14:

  • 0-6.9: Acidic
  • 7: Neutral
  • 7.1-14: Alkaline

Human hair has a natural pH between 4 and 5.5. To maintain healthy hair, your products should ideally match this pH range.

Why Does This Matter?

When you wash your hair with alkaline tap water, it opens the hair cuticles. This exposure can lead to issues like flyaways, split ends, and environmental damage, as your hair absorbs whatever comes its way.

How to Protect Your Hair:

To close the cuticles and restore balance, we use citric acid—derived from citrus fruits—to lower the pH of our formulas to the desired range.

Why?

As we evolve, so does the brand. Under Luna has come a long way from mixing oils in our founder's kitchen. We saw this as an opportunity to hone in on our current identity (new shapes and colors!), prioritizing comfort (no more shattering glass in the shower!), ease (retail boxes to make shipping and our stockists a little happier), and cohesion (all of our shampoos and conditioners are now the same price across the board!).

We've been working on this vision for the past 2 years, and as we know, a lot has changed from then to now. As a small business, we have decided to swallow additional costs to keep our products as accessible as possible while maintaining our commitment to high quality ingredients and ethical partnerships.

Major Differences?

Packaging

All shampoos and conditioners will be in 100% recyclable aluminum bottles. With an increase in recycling life (infinite!) and durability, we knew that the logistics paired with the ease of a child-friendly and slippery-shower-proof material would be a great choice.

Colors

We updated our branding with some tweaks to the color coding you may have grown used to! The big changes are Tulsi Conditioner now having a mauve colored moon (previously green) and Revive Conditioner having a deep forest green moon (previously light blue). Feel free to reference the diagram on the right for the whole lineup of colors.

Cost + Size

Another change is that we will be offering only one size per shampoo and conditioner. We've opted for 9.5oz (~50 washes) for longevity. All shampoos and conditioners will be available for $38, with a 10% discount applied to those that subscribe.
