Recipe: Nettle Herbal Infusion

As we slowly emerge from winter's cave into the light of spring, we're reaching for all of the herbs and plants that help to support regulation and ease as we transition. Our founder, Carly, a certified herbalist, loves making herbal infusions for herself and her family. When asked what herb felt most potent during this time, the answer was simple: "Nettle".

Nettle is a nutritional powerhouse. Rich in an abundance of nutrients, such as vitamins A, C, K, some B vitamins, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and antioxidants, it's been shown to boost the immune system, improve skin, aid digestion, support hormonal health, and improve energy levels.

How to Make an Infusion:

Ingredients:

1 quart of boiling water to 1 oz of dried nettle leaves

Instructions:

1. Put the dried nettles into a jar and fill to the top with the boiling water.

2. Stir to submerge the nettles completely.

3. Seal the jar with a lid and set aside to steep for at least four hours.

4. When done steeping, strain out the nettles and enjoy a cup.

5. Store the remaining infusion in a sealed jar in the fridge and drink within 2-3 days.

6. The flavor of nettle infusion is rich and green and is delicious at room temperature, hot or over ice. We personally love it over ice ;)
