The Evolution of Our Shampoos

10 YEARS OF LISTENING + LEARNING

For nearly ten years, we’ve listened closely to how you experience your hair, your scalp, and your Under Luna ritual. We took everything we’ve learned and thoughtfully evolved our shampoos—creating a richer, more elevated experience while staying rooted in the scalp-first philosophy and plant-based foundation we’ve believed in, since the beginning.

Warrior Shampoo + Tulsi Bloom Shampoo will be the first to launch at the end of September, with Luna Clear Shampoo to follow in Fall 2026.

So, what's changing?

Richer lather
Fuller, creamier and easier to build.

A more beautiful texture
Plumper, more substantial formulas that are easier to control and distribute.

Softer hair after rinsing
Improved slip and conditioning support to help hair feel smoother and less tangled.

An elevated wash
The same purposeful scalp cleanse, with a noticeably more refined experience.

Officially certified color-safe
Our shampoos have always been made with color-friendly ingredients. These however have been certified color-safe.

Dermatologist approved
We’re in the process of dermatologist testing across the shampoo collection. Tulsi Bloom is the first to be officially dermatologist approved, and we’ll continue certifying the others throughout 2026.

What's staying the same?

Still Under Luna at its core.

  • Scalp-first philosophy
  • Same shampoo names
  • Same intended scalp types
  • Same core purpose for each formula
  • Same herbal foundation and many of the botanicals you know
  • Plant-based, exceptionally clean formulas
  • pH-balanced, sulfate-free, silicone-free
  • No synthetic fragrance
  • Same bottle size + packaging

This isn’t a departure from what we’ve made. It’s the best version of what we’ve learned to make. We’re so excited to finally share these with you!

Have questions? We have answers.

Why did Under Luna update the shampoos?

After nearly ten years of listening, learning, and formulating, we wanted to thoughtfully evolve our shampoos—preserving what customers love about how they support the scalp + hair, while refining the in-shower experience with richer lather, improved texture, easier application, and a softer hair feel.

Are these completely new formulas?

No. Think of them as an evolution, not a reinvention. We kept the core purpose, herbal foundation, and many of the botanicals you already know, while thoughtfully refining the formulas for a more elevated in-shower experience.

What will I notice is different?

A fuller, creamier lather, a more substantial texture, easier distribution through the scalp, and a softer, smoother feel after rinsing.

Will my shampoo still work for the same scalp type?

Yes. Our shampoos are still designed for the same scalp needs and serve the same core purpose as before, with the benefits customers already rely on.

What if I prefer the feel of the current formula?

We know change is hard and some may prefer the feel of our original shampoos. We have something coming this fall created with you in mind—more soon!

Did the scent change?

For Warrior Shampoo and Tulsi Bloom Shampoo, the aromatic profiles you know and love remain the same.

Will the color or texture look different?

Yes — and that’s part of the evolution. Expect a fuller, more substantial texture and a lighter natural color.

Because the formulas are still made with a number of roots and herbs, the shampoo naturally carries some color, but compared to the current formulas, it's much lighter — think soft beige!

Are they still pH-balanced?

Of course! These remain pH-balanced for the health of the scalp and hair.

Are the new formulas color-safe?

Yes. Our shampoos have always been made with color-friendly ingredients, and the refined formulas are now officially certified color-safe.

Has the bottle size, packaging or price changed?

The bottle size, packaging and price remain the same.

Will my subscription automatically receive the updated formula?

Yes. As the updated shampoos begin shipping at the end of September, your subscription will automatically transition to the new version. We’ll mark the product as “Updated” in your order confirmation and subscription portal, and you’ll receive notice before the new formulas begin shipping.

When will these be available?

Warrior Shampoo + Tulsi Bloom Shampoo are expected to launch at the end of September, with the exact date coming soon. Luna Clear Shampoo will follow later this fall — more details will be shared as we get closer.

Can I still purchase the previous formula?

Yes, while remaining inventory lasts. Once it’s gone, Warrior Shampoo + Tulsi Bloom Shampoo will transition fully to the updated formulas.
